The Big Book of Dashboards: Visualizing Your Data Using Real-World Business Scenarios
There are many excellent data visualization books that help create better charts. However, data visualization professionals, including Power BI developers, often create dashboards (or “reports” in Microsoft’s terminology), not isolated charts. And this book is special because it focuses on complete dashboards.
I believe it’s one of the best data visualization books and a must-have for every dashboard developer. It features numerous dashboard examples based on various datasets from different industries, tailored for diverse audiences.
Each dashboard, its elements, and their interactions are thoroughly explained, addressing why these solutions are effective in their specific contexts.
The examples were created by multiple developers, and the book was authored by several writers. This diversity allows us to see various approaches and opinions regarding the specific solutions behind the dashboards.
This book serves as an invaluable guide for mastering best practices in dashboard development. It was the second data visualization book I read, in chronological order, a few years ago, and I am grateful to have it on my bookshelf today, allowing me to turn to it whenever I need a source of inspiration. I strongly recommend it.
